Young at Heart

3 Year Old Nursery School is a program designed for children who are two years away from starting kindergarten, and is open to the public. The purpose of Nursery School is to give children the opportunity to interact with their peers and learn socialization skills. The children will spend time learning through play: play is a natural function and the learning it leads to is achieved by the process of “doing”. The students in Nursery School spend time doing many different activities that introduce them to the world of reading, letters & writing; math, numbers & patterning; process & product art, gross & fine motor skills; shapes and colors; and a nice start to personal responsibility and independence. Nursery School is a wonderful way to prepare your child for pre-kindergarten.

4 Year Old Kindergarten

Heart, Hands, and Mind is also a proud participant in education for the Prescott School District 4 Year Old Kindergarten program. The programs mission is to provide every four-year-old in the community with the opportunity to receive a developmentally appropriate learning experience in a quality group setting.

Children must be four years old by September 1 and live within the Prescott School District. Five year-olds may also attend if they are no attending kindergarten.

How to Enroll

Complete the Prescott Community 4K Program Registration materials. Registration packets will be available at all of the centers as well as Malone Elementary School.

Our curriculum implements the Wisconsin Model Early Leaning Standards. These standards are based on current research and developmentally appropriate practices.

Academics are embedded in plat. The “Creative Curriculum” includes the following means of development.

The “Second Step” curriculum will also address the social/emotional development.

The reading, language and literacy component will follow the Hartcourt Reading Series used at Malone Elementary

4K students will be included as part of the K-12 transportation program. A special 4K route will be scheduled in between the morning and afternoon sessions (11 a.m. - 12 p.m.). The centers will have someone at the door to greet and send off students each day.
